My name is Muqtar Hassan, founder and CEO of IIGAD.
Before coming to the United States, I was raised in a farming family in Somalia. As a child, I worked alongside my parents growing crops — it was how we lived and survived. Farming was part of my identity long before I ever knew the word “entrepreneur.”
Due to war and instability, I became a refugee and later resettled in the United States. Today, I am a proud U.S. citizen, married, and the father of four children. I’ve been living and working in the U.S. for over 19 years.
During that time, I built a successful semi-trucking business, with over 15 years of experience in transportation and logistics. The trucking industry taught me a lot about supply chains, managing risk, and how to run a real business.
After visiting my family in East Africa multiple times, I rediscovered my passion for farming — but this time with a new perspective. I saw a massive opportunity in Kenya, where land is fertile, labor is available, and demand for export crops is growing fast.
I chose Kenya specifically because of its duty-free trade access to the U.S. under AGOA, and similar agreements with Europe. This makes Kenya one of the best platforms in East Africa for launching a successful export agribusiness.
With savings from trucking, I purchased 300 acres of land in Kenya. My goal is to combine my childhood experience, logistics expertise, and business mindset to build a sustainable, profitable farm — starting with the basics and scaling with smart capital.

This plan reflects what we own, what we can prove, and what we will do with capital. It is built on land we control, inputs we can source, and markets that already exist.
Finalize clearing and mapping of 300-acre farm (owned land, not leased)
Launch test crops: sesame, peanuts, onions — on 50–100 acres
Deploy early-stage drip irrigation on pilot plots (funding-dependent)
Validate yield, cost, and price assumptions in real-time
Prepare basic logistics for local sales (not yet export)
Publish operational reporting + investor dashboard (monthly)
Goal: Prove cash conversion from soil → crop → sale
Expand active farming to 200–300 acres (weather & capital dependent)
Hire 1–2 full-time roles: Farm Lead (Kenya) + Ops Liaison (U.S.)
Finalize full irrigation on productive zones
Secure working capital to rotate crop cycles more than once/year
Begin small contract exports via existing Gulf or East African channels
Goal: Close Year 2 with full-season revenue, real receipts, and ground-level proof of concept
Build core post-harvest handling (drying + storage)
Lease 100–200 acres nearby (only if profitable and staff can manage)
Introduce 1–2 value crops (e.g., turmeric or ginger) on limited plots
Formalize quality control for bulk buyers (packaging, batch tracking)
Start speaking to institutional buyers (not brokers or traders)
Goal: Increase per-acre return through storage, pricing, and buyer control
Expand controlled footprint to 500–600 acres (owned + leased mix)
Launch basic outgrower pilot with strict yield + QC enforcement
Initiate regional procurement partnerships (e.g. food processors, exporters)
Begin early-stage processing if yield + cash justify capex
Fund reinvestment via retained earnings or debt (not dilution)
Goal: First year with measurable brand equity and value-chain control
Operate 700–1,000 acres across multiple crops, cycles, and zones
Systematize operations (staff, seasonal labor, logistics, risk mgmt)
Run 2+ crop cycles/year where viable
Exit early investors through revenue share or capital event
Establish clean books for long-term financing or private equity entry
Goal: Convert land + labor into reliable, scalable cashflow
IIGAD owns 300 acres of fertile farmland in Kenya, fully paid and titled. This land is the foundation of our startup operations, giving us full control over what we grow, how we manage it, and how we scale over time.
Country: Kenya
Status: Privately owned (not leased)
Size: 300 acres (fully titled)
Usage: Commercial farming (export-focused)
Topography: Flat to slightly rolling — ideal for row crops
Soil Type: Well-drained, loamy soil
Climate: Tropical, with seasonal rains and long sunshine hours
Access: Farm is reachable via road; near key transport hubs
Rain-fed for now, with plans to install drip irrigation for year-round cultivation
Water source and irrigation layout planned in 2025 budget (Phase 2)
Efficient irrigation will allow 2–3 crop cycles annually on rotation
Kenya’s location and infrastructure make it ideal for exports:
🚛 Road access to local aggregation centers and shipping companies
🛳️ Mombasa Port — gateway to Asia, Middle East, and Europe
✈️ Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport — for fresh export shipments
🔹 IIGAD has identified additional farmland surrounding the current site.
🔹 We have access to lease over 1,000 acres of land if needed for expansion.
🔹 This allows us to scale quickly with investor support and demand-based production.
🔹 Long-term goal: expand core production area from 300 to 600+ acres owned, with additional leased acreage as needed.
This flexibility allows us to meet future export contracts, pilot specialty crops, or set up on-site processing as operations mature.
IIGAD is launching operations in lean, realistic phases — starting with manual and semi-mechanized farming on our 300-acre land in Kenya. Our focus is on maximizing efficiency, minimizing overhead, and scaling only when the results are proven.
✅ Land is owned and cleared
✅ First crops: sesame, peanuts, and onions
🚜 Land prep using local tractors and manual labor
👷🏿 Seasonal labor sourced from local communities
📦 Harvest packaged for local market or export-ready buyers
Phase 1: Rain-fed cultivation during planting season
Phase 2: Install drip irrigation once funding is secured
Drip system will allow 2–3 crop cycles per year and open new crop types (ginger, turmeric, etc.)
Phase 1: Basic storage on-site or rented space
Future: Build on-farm storage sheds and sorting areas
Goal: Minimize post-harvest losses, meet export standards
Produce moved to aggregation centers or ports
Export shipments via Mombasa Port or Nairobi Airport
Founder oversees logistics (15+ years U.S. trucking experience)
Operations managed from U.S. HQ (Columbus, Ohio)
On-ground team in Kenya handles farm activity
Weekly video updates and monthly reporting planned for investors
Drip irrigation installation
Packaging shed and solar cold storage
Hiring full-time farm manager + agronomist
Start export contracts directly with buyers
Begin trials of high-value crops (turmeric, ginger, moringa)

We’re not here to sell hype. We’re here to build land-based wealth, one acre at a time.
Thank you for your time and interest in IIGAD.
IIGAD is launching with a lean, strategic budget designed to cover the first full crop cycle — from land prep to harvest and delivery. This plan keeps overhead low while proving results quickly.
The land is already owned (no purchase cost included).
We plan to use existing community tractors and labor.
Marketing cost includes website, GitBook white paper, investor deck, and outreach.
Irrigation will be installed in stages, starting with priority plots.
Cost estimates are based on real vendor quotes and prior field experience.
🔹 50% goes directly into farming activities (land prep, seeds, labor)
🔹 25% allocated to infrastructure (irrigation, storage)
🔹 25% reserved for logistics, admin, and contingency
Every dollar raised will be tracked, reported, and optimized to show early traction to future investors.

The global demand for food — especially natural, export-grade crops — is rising sharply. IIGAD is strategically positioned to take advantage of this trend by farming in Kenya and exporting to global buyers.
🌱 Rising demand for healthy, plant-based foods (e.g. sesame, peanuts, ginger)
🌐 Countries reducing dependence on China and India for agricultural imports
🛒 Food security is now a global investment priority
📈 Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to become a top agricultural supplier by 2030
Kenya is one of the most export-friendly agricultural countries in Africa, thanks to:
✅ AGOA (U.S.) – African Growth and Opportunity Act allows duty-free exports to the U.S.
✅ EPA (EU) – Economic Partnership Agreements give Kenya low-tariff access to Europe
✅ Fertile soil and stable climate for 2–3 crop cycles per year
✅ Functional ports (Mombasa) and airports (Nairobi)
Sesame
Tahini, oil, health foods
China, Europe, U.S., UAE
Peanuts
Protein snacks, peanut butter
U.S., India, Africa
Onions
Daily cooking staple
East Africa, India
These crops are low-risk, store well, and have strong buyer interest year-round.
Most small farmers in Kenya:
Rely on middlemen who pay low prices
Have no access to export logistics
Cannot scale or rotate crops efficiently
IIGAD is building a direct export farm model that cuts out inefficiencies and maximizes land ROI.
IIGAD is currently raising $250,000–$750,000 in startup capital.
This funding will be used in two phases:
This is the minimum capital required to run our first full crop cycle.
This capital allows us to plant, harvest, and sell our first round of sesame, peanuts, and onions.
We are seeking additional capital to move beyond proving the model — to scaling aggressively while global demand is high.
We already own the land, and $120K will get us started. But raising more allows us to accelerate operations, increase acreage, and enter new high-margin crops.
We are open to both equity-based and revenue-share models:
📈 Equity: Own a stake in IIGAD LLC (5% per $100K example)
💸 Revenue Share: Earn a percentage of profits per harvest
🔁 Flexible exit terms after 2 years, or reinvest for more equity
We’re not asking for millions. We already have land, skills, and a working plan. We just need capital to scale something real — and fast.
If you're looking to back a project that owns its land, knows its soil, and respects your investment, this is it.

Market pricing (global commodity rates)
Soil compatibility
Water availability
Labor intensity
Post-harvest storage needs
All future expansion crops will be aligned with investor ROI and regional trade demand.

Most crops listed here have 90–120 day cycles. With irrigation, IIGAD can run 2–3 full cycles per year, depending on the crop.
Short cycle: sesame, peanuts, onions, okra, bell peppers
Long cycle: turmeric, ginger, garlic, fruit trees (1x/year)
Continuous or staggered: moringa, stevia, lemongrass
Maximizing crop turnover = compounding ROI across the year.

IIGAD operates on a 50/50 net profit-sharing model:
💰 Investors fund crop cycles (capital: seeds, labor, inputs)
🧑🏾🌾 IIGAD manages land, staff, logistics, operations, and sales
📈 After each harvest, all direct expenses are subtracted
🧾 Remaining profit is split: 50% to investor, 50% to IIGAD
Before profit is shared, we deduct the following per-acre:
Seeds and fertilizer
Hired labor (land prep to harvest)
Tractor/fuel rental
Irrigation water/pumps
Local transport to market/export
Farm security + staff
Post-harvest storage or handling
Minor logistics/admin costs
Example: If gross revenue = $2,000/acre and operating costs = $1,000/acre, the net profit = $1,000/acre.
Investor receives 50% = $500/acre
Funds ~10 acres of crop (avg $1,000/acre total cost)
Avg net profit per acre: $800–$1,200
Total project net profit: $8,000–$12,000
Investor share (50%) = $4,000–$6,000
Cycle length: ~4–5 months
ROI (one cycle): 40%–60%
Annualized (2 cycles): 80%–120%
Funds ~40–50 acres (depending on crop mix)
Net profit potential: $40K–$60K per cycle (conservative)
Investor share (50%) = $20,000–$30,000
Annual ROI (2 cycles): 80%–120%
Exit: Paid after harvest or rolled into next cycle
Year 1
100
$80K–$100K
$40K–$50K
Year 2
200+
$150K–$200K
$75K–$100K
2-Year Return on $100K: $115K–$150K Total ROI: 115%–150% over 24 months
🔹 Direct payout after harvest (bank, mobile money, or wire)
🔁 Rollover to next crop cycle with no lock-in
📅 Optional 12- to 24-month agreement for longer capital
IIGAD does 100% of the work:
Land ownership and management
Hiring, training, and paying labor
Crop rotation, pest control, irrigation
Negotiating markets and buyer pricing
Covering risks, delays, and loss
The investor funds the cost. We execute the entire operation. Profit is split after all costs — no games.
